Abacus Science Kit - Water Mixture Rescue (Year 7, Chemical Science)

Support the delivery of the Science Connections^® teaching sequence for Year 7 (Chemical Science) – Water Mixture Rescue, aligned with the secondary science (Australian Curriculum Version 9). This comprehensive science kit contains most of the materials needed for engaging, hands-on lessons about water purification. Students explore how particles can be separated from rainwater mixtures and learn separation techniques that can transform collected rainwater into water suitable for household use.

Creative Design Challenge

Students bring their creativity to life by designing a water tank system that allows them to apply their knowledge about collected rainwater purification.

At the of the activity, students can work individually, in groups, or as a class to discuss their investigations, evaluate their findings, and reflect on their learning. This student-centred approach promotes scientific inquiry, collaboration, and deeper understanding.
