A magnetic whiteboard is a versatile teaching tool. Not only does it allow you to write your lesson notes, but it also provides a surface for magnetic maths resources to stick on. 

Apart from their magnetic properties, magnetic whiteboards are just as easy to maintain as their traditional counterparts. All you have to do is wipe them off with a clean eraser or rag. 

Activity Ideas:

  • Pictionary. Draw a geometric shape on the whiteboard one line at a time, and have students guess what the shape is.
  • Stick the sums. Write addition problems on the board, and have students stick a certain number of counters corresponding to the sum of the problem. For example, if the problem is ‘8 + 5 = ?’, the number of counters to be stuck after the ‘=’ sign must be 13. 
  • Draw the dots. This activity is for younger students. Say a number out loud, and ask students to draw a number of dots on the board corresponding to that number. For example, if you say ‘7’, the student must draw 7 dots on the board. They can also use magnetic counters if those are available.
