Dr Paul Swan’s EduGames

The EduGames are divided into 3 categories to suit different year levels as follows:

Dr Paul Swan's Mixed Maths Games - Lower Primary Set 1 (Years 1-3)

  • Double Agent – Designed to help children learn operations related to doubles (e.g. 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8 and so on) using domino-like grids.
  • Get in Shape – No, this doesn’t involve physical exercises, but rather mental ones. Here, children learn to recognise shapes and the categories they fall under.
  • Make to Ten – This game reinforces children’s addition and subtraction skills using the numbers 10 and below. Children get exposed to basic algebra problems such as, ‘If the whole is 10 and one part is 6, what number comprises the remaining part? (Answer: 4)’

Dr Paul Swan's Mixed Maths Games - Lower Primary Set 2 (Years 1-3)

  • Build a Band – Addition has 5 basic strategies that children need to learn to perform the operation quickly. This game aims to teach all those strategies in the order specified in the game.
  • Catch a Crook â€“ Children take on the role of ‘crime investigator’ through a game that utilises the basic tenets of subtraction.
  • Double Dribble – Children will learn doubles (1 + 1, 2 + 2) using a board game that involves rolling dice.
  • Take Off â€“ Designed to help the players master basic addition and subtraction facts, such as what ‘difference’ means in the context of subtraction.

Dr Paul Swan's Maths Games - Middle and Upper Primary Set (Years 3-6)

  • Division DecisionDivision Decision – Designed to help students learn division using a board game.
  • Fraction ActionFraction Action – Involves solving fraction-related problems to progress in the game.
  • Robot Race – Students will get a better grasp of odd and even numbers through this fun robot-based game. It consists of 3 sub-games that help students spot patterns (e.g. adding two even numbers = an even sum)
  • Stop the Clock – Designed to help students practise their ability to read clocks. The game master yells ‘Stop the clock’ every time someone records at least one time for each of the 12 hours of the clock. The first player to record a time for all 12 hours wins.
