Ease your students into the metric system with our classroom-friendly measuring tools for length. Teach them the basics with the standard 30 cm ruler, and gradually get them comfortable with our user-friendly tape measures.
Activity Ideas:
- How long is that? Ask students to measure the length of any object they fancy. Have them state the results using the units of measurement you’ve discussed (mm, cm, m and so on).
- Conversion convos. If you’re using metric units of measurement, have students convert mm to cm (or vice versa) using the length measurement tools they have.
- Trundling travels. Our Trundle Wheel with Counter will be perfect for this activity. Have your students roam around the school using the trundle wheel. Then, ask them to jot down their findings on the length and width of the school perimeter.
