The Measuring Length Kit is ideal for introducing students to a variety of units and measuring tools, with which they can practise learning new concepts or test understanding.

Range of Resources

From ticker tape rolls through to a trundle wheel, this kit has you covered for all types of length measurement. Ticker tape is great for experimenting with custom units, or measuring irregular surfaces, whilst the trundle wheel can be applied in teaching area and perimeter outside in the playground! An assortment of various tape measure lengths is also supplied, with which students can familiarise themselves with centimetres, millimetres, feet, and inches.

All the components of this kit pack neatly into the included Gratnells Jumbo tray, allowing for easy, compact storage within a classroom, and rapid activity pack-up.

Introducing measurement to young children may first involve exploring the relative sizes of objects without assigning units. The string, rope and ticker tape are perfect for this, as students can practise cutting estimated lengths to get a feel for what, for example, a metre looks like in string. This kit contains enough materials to comfortably share between a class, either during individual or group assignments.
