Description / Tuning Forks - Set of 8

Tuning forks provide a simple yet effective way to demonstrate the physics of sound, since they have pure tones.

Students will enjoy the fact that tuning forks tend to retain the pitch they’re tuned into. They will also have fun with the various experiments that can be conducted using these tuning forks.

Hands-on learning

Prepare a tuning fork and a bowl of water. Activate the tuning fork by striking it against an object, and ask the students to describe the sound of the tuning fork after being struck. Then, put the tuning fork on the surface of (but not submerged in) the water. Ask the students to describe the water waves emanating from the tuning fork.

Beyond science and music

Tuning forks can also be used for relaxation and stress relief activities such as breathing exercise, body placement to help release tensions in muscles with the vibrations, meditation to help focus mind, and more.

Effective tuning forks in a decent case for storage and transport. As described.
Review by Kez
They are okay, however I was disappointed that A440n was not in the set. I would have thought as that is the universal tuning note the world over, it would have been in the set so I had to go and buy another one as that was my discussion in my music lesason.

Review by The Doc
solid tuning forks at a fair price. They work well and am quite happy. Abacused were prompt in their order which was pleasing although their delivery contractor, Australia Post, were a mite slow .
A wonderful adjunct to W H Bragg's "World of Sound-1919" in particular the physics of music.
Review by Euclid Alexandra
A terrific starting point to illustrate the principles of sound that I can explain to our grandchildren. Sir William Bragg who taught physics at Adelaide University up to 1908 & then returned to England is a wonderful role model in explaining physics to all levels of interested members of the public.
The use of resonating boxes & tubes to identify the wavelengths of each tuning fork is an exercise to encourage the imagination.
