UV Beads and Torch Set
Description / UV Beads and Torch Set
Ultra-violet (UV) Light Detecting Beads contain a unique pigment that changes colour when exposed to UV light from the Sun or other UV sources.
UV is an invisible type of light from the Sun. It can burn our skin and cause cancer, damage our eyes and destroy our cells. The darker the colour of the beads, the more UV rays they are detecting.
The hand-held UV torch (or blacklight) emits ultraviolet (UV) light that can cause many materials to glow or fluoresce when they absorb it.
Objects glow under black light, because they absorb the invisible UV radiation and emit a light of a different wavelength that is visible to us as luminescence. Objects that continue to emit light after the source is removed are known as phosphorescent.
The UV spectrum emitted by this torch is in the long-wave range which is harmless to our skin and eyes but like all light sources it is never a good idea to shine the torch directly into people's eyes or our own.
Each torch requires 3 x AAA batteries (included) and measures 95mm x 30mm diameter.
