Cuisenaire rods are a versatile resource, especially when it comes to teaching numeracy to young children. The tub contains 155 durable plastic pieces of varying lengths (10 – 100mm), which can form the basis of fun activities reinforcing arithmetic, fractions, probability, and much more. The pieces could be joined together to visualise bright patterns or used singly as the basis of trading games.
The rods have indentations on one face, marking how many 10mm units make up the whole. This feature relates to the same concept as MAB blocks, in that singular units make up a whole, and could be used to introduce place value and measurement topics.
