In alignment to the UFLI Foundations scope and sequence, Beanstalk Books has designed UFLI Single and Classroom Kit for Foundation, Year 1, and Year 2. The kits contains a mix collection of fiction, non-fiction, science, and Hi-Lo decodable readers. These books cover the next progression of phonics skills outlined in the UFLI scope and sequence — reinforcing decoding, fluency, and confidence.
The decodable readers are built on the principles of the science of reading and supports the worldwide movement of evidence-based reading instruction. They follow a strictly controlled vocabulary as the texts uses only decodable regular works according to the week-by-week progression of letters and sounds along with ‘tricky words (words that are frequently used words that are not decodable at that phase). The decodable readers are colour-coded and divided into six phases:
