This set of games is a follow up to ‘6 Letter Sound Games’, covering the second progression of letter sounds via a systematic phonics programme.
Play Learning
Whilst playing fun board games, children learn to decode words and sentences. Additionally, children learn to spell words by completing long vowel sounds and r-controlled sounds. They can also learn diagraphs (two letters that make up one sound) by matching it with the missing sounds in the words. For example, 'ch' can be matched to another domino with image of a chick and the missing sound 'ick'. These dominoes follow a colour pattern to simplify matching the diagraphs to correct sound. Making learning simple builds children's confidence, thereby, encouraging learning.
Beyond Literacy
Like any other board games, these games help children to develop communication skills, social skills, and team work which are life skills they will need even as adults.
