There are 44 different sounds in the English language and just as many ways to spell them - all of which are shown in this wall border.

The wall border can be used as a straightforward classroom display, or it can be broken down into individual cards for teaching one sound at a time.

Each card has the sound written in large letters on the top left of the card. There are also four columns of the common words (and sample images) using that sound, as well as notes on the frequency of that word (‘common’, ‘sometimes’ or ‘rare’) at the bottom.
