Description / Pattern Blocks - Plastic (Jar of 250)
Pattern blocks will be the source of so much excitement in the classroom! A series of colourful shapes, they’re perfect for teaching all sorts of mathematical concepts. In particular, they could be applied to patterns, symmetry, linear and area measurement, fractions, sorting, and sequences. The durable plastic shapes will soon become a go-to resource, with a thickness of 5mm they are perfect for young children manipulating the pieces.
Colourful shapes
The set contains 250 pieces which are provided in six shapes. These are square, hexagon, diamond (wide and narrow), trapezium, and triangle. By joining combinations of these shapes together, children could create imaginative pictures, sort the shapes by ‘number of sides’ or shape type, or even represent fractions as parts of a whole. You’ll also find there are six vibrant colours: red, green, yellow, blue, orange, and cream.
A jar of 250 will keep a group of students busy and engaged in problem-solving activities. If you’re looking for ideas on how to use your resources, it may be worth looking at Dr Paul Swan’s Pattern Blocks book, which is packed full of guided tasks for young children.
