Money games are a great way to make maths fun, whether you are setting up a pretend shop or playing a traditional card game. Our equipment will assist your students in learning the basics of addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, fractions, and place value. What’s more, they will have a great time while they learn!
Our kits are designed based on the age and learning requirements of your students. The junior and the middle/upper classroom kit include different amounts and currencies of money according to the age group. Likewise, the Dr Paul Swans maths class kits are made separately for years one/two, three/four, and five/six.
The problem-solving money puzzles book by Dr Paul Swan includes fun problem-solving games for using play money and coins. For a more light-hearted game, the Australian money bags game has a board layout like Candyland and requires players to earn the most money to win.
Try out the money of Australia cards which are large and laminated copies of real Aussie currency. These can be used alongside the money activity cards which provide ideas for games to play and content to revise.
The play cash registers are useful for teaching a range of maths areas to all different year levels. Upper primary school students can add discounts to their ‘products’ which encourages using fractions and place value.
In a group, try mixing all different kinds of coins into separate piles for each player. On three, every player must sort their coins into piles based on the currency and colour. The first person to finish sorting is the winner.
