Decodable Big Books Non-Fiction
Description / Decodable Big Books Non-Fiction
These extra-large books provide children with visual and written examples of letter sounds.
This series of Decodable Big Books aligns with the Science of Reading research to help kids progress through Phases 2-4 of the Beanstalk Books program ‘Letters and Sounds’. The books each focus on a different non-fiction story with interesting photographs. The stories cover interest areas such as sports, animals, and space to make learning literacy more engaging for children.
The massive size of these books (A3 29.7 x 42 cm) is ideal for teachers to read out loud to a class. Teachers can ask children to read the sounds themselves and then practise speaking or spelling the words.
The photos in these books are very engaging due to their high-quality resolution and size. Every photo is labelled with a caption that relates to letters and sounds, and the illustrations feature diverse and age-appropriate subjects.
In the classroom, teachers can use the books to engage in interactive tasks where they read sounds out loud to children, ask them to identify sounds, and to read the sentences back. Alternatively, students can team up with others or work independently to go through the books practising pronunciation, reading, and writing the different words. These books are too large for children to revise at home, which forces them to practise actively listening skills during class.
